Faith, Fandom, and Why We Create
Share
Most people think of faith and fandom as two separate worlds. On one side, you’ve got Sunday mornings, Bible reading, and prayer. On the other side, you’ve got midnight movie premieres, boss battles, and convention floor cosplay. But here’s the truth: they’re not opposites at all, they’re both ways of telling stories, and both stories are about meaning.
At CTRL ALT BELIEVE, we live in the overlap.
Why Creativity Matters to Christians
From the very first page of the Bible, God is introduced as a Creator. That means creativity is part of what it means to be human, not an optional hobby. When we design, build, sketch, or even meme, we’re reflecting the image of the One who made us.
That’s why Christians should never be afraid of creativity. Whether it’s art, music, fashion, or even video games, creative work has the power to point beyond itself.
Why Fandoms Work as Faith Language
Fandoms are modern mythologies. Superheroes, Jedi, hobbits, and pixelated plumbers all live in the same space that ancient epics used to occupy. They tell us something about courage, sacrifice, friendship, and the fight between light and darkness.
If you’ve ever had goosebumps when the Avengers assembled, or felt a chill when Luke faced Vader, you know fandoms shape us. That’s why they’re a perfect bridge for conversations about deeper truth.
The gospel reframes fandoms. In every hero’s sacrifice, we glimpse Christ. In every epic struggle, we see the ultimate victory of light over shadow.
Why CTRL ALT BELIEVE Blends Faith and Fandom
This is why our designs look the way they do. You’ll see pixel art, tribal lines, cyberpunk neon, and even heavy-metal vibes, not because we’re trying to be edgy, but because these are the languages our culture speaks.
And if Christianity is meant for every tribe, tongue, and generation, then it should also show up in the art styles we actually live in.
CTRL ALT BELIEVE is about rebooting how we express belief. Not sappy. Not corny. But bold, geeky, and meaningful; so that your shirt, your hoodie, or your sticker can spark a conversation you didn’t even know was waiting.
This is Just the Beginning
Today kicks off a 7-day journey we’re calling Faith + Creativity: Why CTRL ALT BELIEVE Exists. Each day we’ll dig into a piece of the story: how geek culture meets the gospel, how faith belongs to every tribe and tongue, and even what the future of Christian creativity could look like.
Because faith isn’t stuck in the past and fandom isn’t just a hobby. Both point to something bigger.
Welcome to Day 1.
"Now the story of Christ is simply a true myth: a myth working on us in the same way as the others, but with this tremendous difference that it really happened." - CS Lewis
